How To Get Involved with State Committees
As you may have heard by now, the Missouri Association of REALTORS® has changed their committee structure with the new O2 Initiative. The O2 Initiative will restructure the way we have been doing things and will allow more members to get involved (without having to travel to attend meetings).
The common way of doing state governance has always had a top-down approach, where the Executive Committee would send the items for discussion down to the committee chairs which would then meet 3-4 times per year at the MAR Business Meetings, but not much would be accomplished in between meetings. It was also difficult to get involved if you couldn’t break away from your business to travel to attend the meetings.
So the Missouri REALTORS® changed it up and infused “Outreach” and “Output” in an effort to outreach to our members and get more output quickly and efficiently. O2. There is an FAQ document written up and produced by MAR that explains the process, but it has been best described as taking a top-down pyramid approach and turning it upside down.
The Output Committees meet first (and most of the discussion of the business is ongoing on The Landing so any member can be part of it) and share their input for output. The Output Group chairs then meet with the Mission Committee group to discuss how they are going to put the output ideas into action. The Mission Committees compile the reporting to the Executive Committee and then any issues are voted on by the Board of Directors.
Output Groups > Mission Committees > Executive Committee > Board of Directors
So now you maybe asking how you can get involved. Any member can be part of an Output Group and if you want to sign up, then you have to get your name on the list by signing up here. Once MAR registers you in the group, you will be added to community on The Landing.
Of course give me a call or send me an e-mail if you want to discuss it further on serving on a state O2 group or committee. I know that the members of GSBOR have a lot of talent and leadership qualities and I’d love to see you involved in our state association.
